College Students Take Burgers to a Whole New Level
Coming this August, seven students are embarking on a weeklong road trip to seek out Washington’s best burger. Hailing from colleges in Washington, Montana, California, and Idaho, these close friends are known by burger joints across the state as the Washington State Burger Tour. Armed with a dirty suburban, a few coolers of food and an insatiable appetite, they are driving over a thousand miles to hit stops in every corner of the state. As a whole, the group will consume close to 80 pounds of ground beef, let alone extra milkshakes and heaps of French fries.
After last year’s tour, Chuck Wagon’s “Bar Six” burger in Mt. Vernon victoriously walked away with their name engraved on the trophy. Eleanor’s Corner Saloon in Uniontown came in a close second with the incredible “Colossal Burger”; a monstrosity sporting thirty or more ingredients and truly defining the phrase “everything but the kitchen sink”; and needless to say, this year’s locations will be up against some tough competition. As the seven burger connoisseurs prepare to hit the road, the only fear is leaving a burger joint hungry.
The primary inspiration for the WSBT was to discover the best place for burgers in Washington to help members and nonmembers alike choose the right burger for dinner. Each individual pays all of their own expenses (a total budget near $2500), which includes a week full of camping, fishing, sightseeing, and a little grilling of their own.
